Devon holds a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. in geography from the University of New Mexico, and is nationally certified to teach in the Iyengar tradition. Devon began formal practice of Iyengar Yoga in 1978, and since then has studied with senior-level Iyengar teachers both here and abroad, as well as with Mr. Iyengar, his son Prashant and his daughter Geeta in Pune. She has taught since 1980 in New Mexico, Africa, and Texas.
Devon is also a student of Zen, and for the last 7 years has been studying the historical and practical relationship between Yoga Mind and Buddha Mind. Devon's philosophy in practice and teaching is that steady mindfulness and compassion in action bring knowledge, and that knowledge in turn brings freedom of body, mind and spirit.
Numerous students have requested that Devon release asana sequences from classes to students, as a way of helping their home practice. Click here to find a series of sequences that may assist this important aspect of yoga study. The collection of sequences will change regularly. This page is intended for Devon's students primarily, and for Iyengar yoga students in general.
FULL-TIME STUDENTS (with ID) are offered a 25% discount off all Devon's classes.
FOR THOSE IN FINANCIAL NEED: I will never turn an earnest student away who lacks the means to pay for classes. If you need a reduction in your fees, just ask. Yoga is supposed to work like this; it is my job and my joy to offer this to you.
