Asana and the Nervous System, Dedicated to Geeta Iyengar

Devon will lead a Saturday afternoon session incorporating descriptions and ways of working with the nervous system in asana that were learned in classes and practice in India, under the guidance of both Geeta and Prashant Iyengar. We will approach yoga practice and the resolution of its difficulties by closely observing the action and response of the nervous system to what we do.

This class is for all levels; there will be the option of taking advanced or beginner versions of the poses. Please come with some prior experience of Iyengar Yoga and its methods.

Junior Intermediate Teacher Training with Peggy and Devon
October 27-28

For all beginner level Iyengar teachers, and all learning more about intermediate level Iyengar teaching.

 There are two primary paths of study for this teacher training weekend:
Topic One: The Asanas:
We will explain and respond to questions about how to do the poses on the Junior Intermediate I and II syllabus.  This will be like a yoga class with all sorts of questions allowed, and the answers revealed by means of practice and discussion of instructions.  We will cover the basics of doing the poses, and some of the ways of using props and support where there is need.

Topic Two: Teaching at an Intermediate Level:
We will review the current expectations of teaching according to the Certification Manual, especially the following topics:
Teaching using forms of linkage within and between poses
Examples of standard adjustments for standard problems
Understanding of how to present yoga philosophy in the context of asana classes. 

Saturday October 27 1pm – 5pm (with a break)
Sunday October 28 8am – 12noon (with a break)

 Cost: $175

Yoga for strong and supple shoulders with Anne-Marie Schultz

In this afternoon workshop, you will learn a variety of basic yoga poses that will help strengthen and create flexibility in the shoulder joint.

This is an all levels workshop that will incorporate education about the shoulder joint as well as practical applications to build strength in this often vulnerable area of the body.
